Sunday Reflections ~ Gratitude

Sunday, 10 June 2018

This has been one of the hardest weeks of my life. You know when a month is going to kick you ass and there feels like there is nothing you can do about it. But on Wednesday I gained some perspective and saw someone else's way of living that gave me the shock of my life. I got home and was speechless for the rest of the day.

A thought: We need to stop being so ungrateful! There are people out there with nothing but who manage to smile and laugh each day. We have the tendency to get so worked up and depressed when the power is out or the internet is down. We take everything for granted. There are people who have nothing, who sleep in tents and yet they are the happiest and most grateful people around. We have so much to be thankful for. A roof of your head, clothes on your back and food on the table. Leave the luxuries. Stop crying because you can't afford tickets for a stupid concert or that new car. Just be thankful.

Piece of Advice: Start a gratitude journal. At the end of each day write down all the things you are grateful for. Even the littlest things. You will see that you have so much to be thankful for.

A quote for the week: Trade your expectations for appreciation and the world changes instantly.

Song of the week: A Million Dreams - Greatest Showman soundtrack. This song is so beautiful. It makes me think of a bright and colorful future no matter what situation you are in.  How do these lyrics not inspire you?

'Cause every night I lie in bed, The brightest colors fill my head

A million dreams are keeping me awake, I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see, A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

Lesson for the week: We don't need a house full of meaningless belongings, as long as we have the people around us who care about us. People we value and appreciate. Material possessions mean nothing. You can't take them with you when you die.

Grateful for: New friends, Rhysia and Enver. My job. Laughter and happiness when days are dark. Moments shared with friends and family.
