Do you ever wake up on a Monday morning and feel so unprepared for the week ahead? You can’t find your shoes, you spend too long looking for the perfect outfit or you just feel exhausted. I used to feel like that all the time. But I figured out that the only way to not feel that way or to know what to wear, is to plan for the week ahead on a Sunday.

I know Sundays are supposed to be for rest and relaxation, but I find that I can plan my whole week within an hour. Here is how I do it.

Plan outfits

We don’t have a dress code at our offices and I am all about comfort. So for the most part it is jeans, either a pretty blouse or a t-shirt and my shoes. I also have work tops that are different from my weekend tops. I like the work capsule wardrobe I have in place. It makes choosing outfits for work easier. I like to update the capsule wardrobe every three months, with new tops and pants.

Figure out the makeup looks for the week

I like to plan what I am going to do with makeup each day. If I decide to wear makeup. For the most part I do my brows, and add mascara. I like to let my skin rest. This also minimizes the amount of time it takes to get ready in the morning.

Plan ahead for meeting and deadlines

My busiest time of the month is from the 26th to the 7th. That is when things get really intense. I like to have my diary planned out and to know what I have to do each day. This way I don’t forget something important. I know I could probably use google calendar, but I’m old school and love me a hard covered diary. Writing with different colored pens. I’m Jane Ryan from New York Minute… You know, the control freak who lives through her diary. I even got a filo fax like that too.

Plan your meals for the week

I suck at this, especially with a little boy who is ultra-fussy. I try to plan a meal plan and stick to it. I also make a little extra to take to work for lunch. I also like to pre-pack school lunches. Saves time in the morning, which helps tremendously.

Get enough sleep

This should be easy but getting a good nights sleep is paramount. Unless you know you can function on only a few hours, I suggest getting at least 8 hours a night. Sleeping helps your recuperate, repair and re-energize.
